On Miracle Working Relics

(All quotes from Scripture are taken from the King James Version of the Bible)

The Holy Bible records two distinct instances of miracle-working relics.

2 Kings 13:21--"And it came to pass, as they were burying a man, that, behold, they spied a band of men; and they cast the man into the sepulchre of Elisha: and when the man was let down, and touched the bones of Elisha, he revived, and stood up on his feet" Often, when Orthodox Christians speak of the relics of dead Saints working miracles, they are told that such a thing is un-Biblical. This passage clearly shows that such a thing is not un-Biblical.

Acts 19:11-12--"And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul: So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them" When St. Nectarios died in a hospital in Greece, his vestments were removed so that his body could be prepared for washing. They were hastily laid on the bed next to his where another man lay dying. When his vestments touched the man who was dying, the man was instantly cured of his sickness.
